WHAT'S PTA DOING?

PTA was proud to love on our awesome staff for Valentine's Day with a delicious meal and treats! Thank you to our amazing PTA Staff Lunch Coordinator Christina Nicewonger for her hard work coordinating this and all our staff lunches. PTA LOVES YOU, Hicks staff!

Happy 125th Birthday National PTA!

On February 17, nationwide known as Founders' Day, PTA celebrates 125 years of the legacy and work of its founders: Alice McLellan Birney, Selena Sloan Butler, and Phoebe Apperson Hearst. These exceptional women began an organization to better the lives of every child in education, health, and safety.

On Founders' Day PTA members reflect and take pride in our achievements and renew our commitment to be the following:

  • a powerful voice for all children,
  • a relevant resource for parents, and
  • strong advocates for public education

PTA's founders represented women of imagination and courage with a simple idea to improve the lives and future of all children. They understood the power of individual action, worked beyond the accepted barriers of their day, and took action to change the world for all children. PTA.org/125

Calling all volunteers! We are thrilled to roll out the RED CARPET on March 26 for this year’s school dance fundraiser, “A NIGHT WITH THE STARS.” We are looking for several volunteers to help us with event set up at Hicks on Friday, 3/25 and Saturday, 3/26 as well as to work the event from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and clean up after the event.

LISD requires cleared background checks for all on-campus visitors. Register on Voly and submit your background check ASAP so you can sign up for volunteer opps, field trips, and general meetings. Be sure to become a fan of Hicks Elementary so our school opps appear in your feed first. (Note: It could take up to three weeks for your background check to clear.)
