Penguin Patch is Here

The Penguin Patch Holiday Shop is in full swing and we're loving all the boys and girls shopping for their loved ones, friends, pets, and even themselves! Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who have already helped decorate, set up, and shop with our students.

Special shoutout to Tina Verma for organizing and Christina Judah for decorating this amazing event!

Thank you all for coming out to support Hicks at our "Holiday on Ice" December Spirit Night! We are so thankful for all our wonderful parents, students, and staff. We had 177 skaters and raised $1,550 for our school. Comerica said this was the largest check they have presented for a fundraising event. Way to go Timberwolves!!

All Aboard!

Don your PJs and grab your tickets for a ride on The Polar Express around our Hicks halls! Thank you to Melinda Field and Christina Nicewonger for their amazing talents in creating this delightful experience for our students. And special thanks to our additional decorative support ladies (Carrie Batson, Cristina Judah, and Christine Jones) as they helped kick off this winter season. 

Now Accepting Nominations for PTA Lifetime Awards

It's time to nominate a parent and/or staff member for a Texas PTA 2022 Lifetime Award! Let's thank our amazing members by nominating them for the highest honor in PTA. 

Submit nominations here. For a complete list of previous years' Lifetime Award recipients, please go to our Hicks PTA Lifetime Members page.

Nominations will be accepted now through January 26, 2022. Recipients will be presented at the LISD Council of PTAs Founders Day Banquet on February 24, 2022. Note: All nominations to be reviewed by the THES PTA Membership Committee and will be considered based on previous and current PTA service and volunteer hours. 

Snacks Needed for Staff

Our staff needs some "Almost Winter Break" nourishment! Help PTA restock the Timberwolf Snack Bar by bringing our staff some great treats by Tuesday, Dec. 14.

  1. Bring individually packaged, non-perishable items to stock the snack bar like trail mixes, chips, cookies, popcorn, sweet treats, granola bars, jerky, canned beverages, or any other type of snacks you’d like to share. Please drop off your item(s) at the Hicks Office through Tuesday, Dec. 14.
  2. Decorate a heart! Print this heart and have your child write a message or decorate the heart. Hearts can be returned to the Hicks Office with your snack donation.

LISD Senior? Apply Now for LEF Scholarships!

LISD requires cleared background checks for all on-campus visitors. Register on Voly and submit your background check ASAP so you can sign up for volunteer opps, field trips, and general meetings. Be sure to become a fan of Hicks Elementary so our school opps appear in your feed first. (Note: It could take up to three weeks for your background check to clear.)
